Coup de Foudre
Drama, Romance | Feature
A young woman convinced that the superhero who saved her life when she was struck by lightning as a child is real learns that she’s actually been chasing Thor’s best lieutenant. But he wants to break the curse binding him to his job, and that leaves no room for love or loyalty of any kind.
Synopsis
At the age of 12, Madison Mercer was struck by lightning and saved by a teenaged boy. Everyone told her he was the figment of a near-death experience, but Madi couldn’t shake the absolute knowledge: He. Is. Real.
After devoting an entire 14-year academic career and never-ending PhD research to Meteorology, and having created a device that can track hyper-specific lightning strikes, Madi finally manages to capture the strange man who lives in the lightning and saved her life back then: Oskar Thomassen, the highest-ranking (and most skilled) Bolt Lieutenant in Thor’s army, fighting Draugar and Soul Devourers on Midgard.
But Oskar isn’t content with Madi’s obsession, and quickly tries and fails to distance himself from her. However, Oskar is trapped in his role by Thor, and the caveat that the powers granted to him by Thor must pass on to whoever is most loyal to Oskar.
Oskar never had a choice in getting his powers. He wants nothing more than to break the cycle, and let the powers die with him. But Madi’s love and loyalty to him over the years throw a spanner in the works, and now he has to face the fact that if he does choose to leave, it’ll kill the only person who looked at him and saw more than just a Very Good Soldier.
Stuck in a doomed-either-way choice between his freedom or saving a life, Oskar has to learn that some sacrifices are necessary, even if they’re the most painful thing on Earth.
