Murphy’s Law
Crime Drama | TV
Everything that can go wrong does for a demoted London Detective exiled to Liverpool who, when he tries to prove his skills and integrity, gets in too deep with the elusive Project Iceberg.
Synopsis
Alex Murphy is an exiled London detective inspector, trying to survive North-Western ribbing and an entirely different style of policework at the bottom of a hierarchy he was once top of.
Alex struggles to temper his hunger for action and importance, and his unyielding need to follow the rules, things which don’t sit well with his more easy-going colleagues.
Alex stumbles across a case file no-one wants to talk about, while lost in a sea of grunt work and admin: Project Iceberg. He sees Iceberg as his right, but when he starts trying to insert himself, he pisses off his superior and gains the attention of local loveable rich eccentric William Sherling.
DI Callum Holmes, Alex’s cool-headed, laid-back partner, tries to bridge the gaps between the working hierarchy, and the social connections Alex keeps tanking, while trying to keep him from Iceberg altogether. William doesn’t make it easy for Alex to settle either, presenting not-so-subtle cover-up business ventures.
Alex tries to call out the very obvious bullshit William’s serving up to no avail, leaving him to stew over just how much corruption there might actually be in the force he’s serving with.
The deeper he covertly digs into the cavernous layers of the Iceberg, the more he’s forced to choose between his ethics and his reputation, especially when he learns who’s really in charge…
